Aoife Ní Chonchúir

Aoife is a native speaker of Irish from the Corca Dhuibhne Gaeltacht in Kerry. Her primary degree is in Spanish and Irish and she also has an M.Phil in Applied Linguistics. Since the year 2000, she has taught extensively and has gained invaluable experience in a large number of organisations, including the Department of Modern Irish and Bord na Gaeilge, UCD; the Department of Irish, Froebel College; Sult Teoranta; Conradh na Gaeilge; Gael Linn; and Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne.

Aoife joined Gaelchultúr in 2005 and left the company in late 2009, on moving back to her native Kerry. During her time with Gaelchultúr, Aoife developed syllabuses, teaching materials and lesson plans on a continuous basis and taught courses in a range of State bodies, including An Bord Pleanála, The Department of Education and Science and The Courts Service. She has a particular interest in the issue of language in the Gaeltacht and she undertook an MA in Language Planning to add to her understanding of the subject.
