Conversation B
Sorcha arrives at an Irish language organisation in Galway, where’s she about to have an interview for a job. Or so she thinks!
Emer: | Dia duit. Hello. |
Sorcha: | Dia is Muire duit. Is mise Sorcha Ní Laighin. Hello. I’m Sorcha Ní Laighin. |
Emer: | Cén chaoi a bhfuil tú? Is mise Emer. Tá sé an-fhuar ar maidin, nach bhfuil? How are you? I’m Emer. It’s very cold this morning, isn’t it? |
Sorcha: | Tá agus tá sé ag báisteach anois chomh maith. Yes and it’s raining now as well. |
Emer: | Tá an aimsir go dona faoi láthair. An féidir liom cabhrú leat, a Shorcha? The weather is terrible at the moment. Can I help you, Sorcha? |
Sorcha: | Tá mé anseo don agallamh. I’m here for the interview. |
Emer: | Don agallamh! Ach níl na hagallaimh ar siúl go dtí maidin amárach. For the interview! But the interviews aren’t taking place until tomorrow morning. |
Sorcha: | Dáiríre! Agus tá mise tar éis taisteal as Áth Luain. Bhí mé cinnte go raibh siad ar siúl inniu! Really! And I’ve just travelled from Athlone. I was sure they were taking place today! |
Emer: | Tá brón orm faoi sin. An mbeidh cupán tae agat? I’m sorry about that. Will you have a cup of tea? |
Sorcha: | Beidh, go raibh maith agat. Nach mé an t-amadán! Yes please. Aren’t I the fool! |
