Comhrá B
Conversation B
Aodán is trying to get his children to eat their dinner but he’s fighting a losing battle!
Aodán: | Ith do dhinnéar, a Chaoimhín. Eat your dinner, Caoimhín. |
Caoimhín: | Ach níl ocras ar bith orm. But I’m not hungry at all. |
Aodán: | Agus ith thusa do chuid glasraí, a Shorcha. And you eat your vegetables, Sorcha. |
Sorcha: | Ní maith liom glasraí – is fuath liom iad. B’fhearr liom sceallóga. I don’t like vegetables – I hate them. I’d rather have chips. |
Aodán: | A Chaoimhín, tabhair dom an t-im, le do thoil. Caoimhín, pass me the butter, please. |
| (Caoimhín hands him the butter.) |
| Go raibh maith agat. Thank you. |
| Agus an bainne. And the milk. |
| (Caoimhín hands him the milk.) |
| Maith an buachaill. Good boy. |
Sorcha: | An féidir liomsa gloine oráiste a bheith agam? Can I have a glass or orange? |
Aodán: | Is féidir – má itheann tú do ghlasraí i dtosach. You can – if you eat your vegetables first. |
Sorcha: | Ach ní maith liom brocailí ná cairéid. Tá drochbhlas orthu. But I don’t like broccoli or carrots. They taste bad. |
Aodán: | Tá siad an-mhaith agat. Ith suas iad agus ansin is féidir leat gloine dheas oráiste a bheith agat. They’re very good for you. Eat them up and then you can have a nice glass of orange. |
Sorcha: | Níl sin féaráilte! That’s not fair! |
