Conversation A
It’s Friday evening and Póilín’s son Séamas has no interest in talking about his day at school!
Póilín: | Conas mar a bhí an scoil inniu? How were things at school today? |
Séamas: | Maith go leor. Okay. |
Póilín: | An raibh an obair bhaile a rinne tú don rang Mata ceart go leor? Was the work you did for the Maths class alright? |
Séamas: | Bhí. Yes. |
Póilín: | Agus an ndeachaigh sibh go dtí an linn snámha san iarnóin? And did you go to the swimming pool in the afternoon? |
Séamas: | Chuaigh. Yes. |
Póilín: | An raibh Manus ar ais ar scoil inniu? Was Manus back at school today? |
Séamas: | Ní raibh. No. |
Póilín: | In ainm Dé, a Shéamais, labhair liom! Tá tú chomh tostach! For God’s sake, Séamas, talk to me! You’re so silent! |
Séamas: | Ach tá mé tuirseach agus bréan den scoil. But I’m tired and sick of school. |
Póilín: | Maith go leor, mar sin. Ní chuirfidh mé níos mó ceisteanna ort. Okay, then. I won’t ask you any more questions. |
Séamas: | Go raibh maith agat. Thank you. |
